Description
The presence of Soviet experts in China and loans from Moscow were undoubtedly a catalyst for success in Mao’s first five year plan. Here, an expert in petroleum is assisting teachers in conducting experiments at the China University of Petroleum in Beijing founded a year earlier in 1953. Over the course of the five year plan, China’s Oil extraction increased from 0.4 million tonnes to 1.4 million tonnes.
